These logs are stored in the Windows Event Log (Application log) under the source "WiFiCopy-SimpleShare".

3. HOW WE USE YOUR INFORMATION
3.1 Local Processing Only
All information collected by WiFiCopy-SimpleShare is processed and stored locally on your computer. We use this information to:

- User Authentication: Create and manage local Windows user accounts for share access
- Network Configuration: Configure Windows Firewall rules and network discovery settings

3.2 No Remote Transmission
WiFiCopy-SimpleShare does NOT transmit any information to remote servers, third parties, or the developer. The application operates entirely offline and does not require an internet connection.
4. DATA STORAGE AND SECURITY
4.1 Local Storage
All data is stored locally on your Windows computer in the following locations:

4.2 Security Measures
WiFiCopy-SimpleShare implements multiple security measures to protect your information:
Password Security
- Passwords are handled using
SecureStringto minimize exposure in memory - Passwords are immediately zeroed out after use
- No passwords are stored in plain text
- Windows manages password hashing and storage using industry-standard methods
Input Validation
- All user inputs are validated and sanitized
- Path traversal protection prevents unauthorized directory access
- System directories cannot be shared
- Share names and usernames are validated for security
Rate Limiting
- Share creation limited to 10 per minute
- Minimum 5 seconds between share creations
- Minimum 3 seconds between share deletions
- Password reset attempts limited to 5 per 10-minute window
- 15-minute lockout after exceeding password reset attempts
Audit Logging
- All security-relevant events are logged to Windows Event Log
- Failed authentication attempts are recorded
- Rate limit violations are logged
- Administrative actions are tracked
Network Security
- Automatic detection of public vs. private networks
- Warnings displayed when connected to public networks
- Firewall rules configured to allow SMB traffic only
- No external network communication
4.3 Administrator Privileges
WiFiCopy-SimpleShare requires administrator privileges to:
- Create and manage Windows network shares
- Create and modify local user accounts
- Configure Windows Firewall rules
- Enable network discovery services
- Write to Windows Event Log
These privileges are used only for the intended functionality and are not used to access or transmit your personal data.
5. DATA SHARING AND DISCLOSURE
5.1 No Third-Party Sharing
WiFiCopy-SimpleShare does NOT share, sell, rent, or disclose any information to third parties. All data remains on your local computer.
5.2 Network File Sharing
When you create a file share using WiFiCopy-SimpleShare:
- The shared folder becomes accessible to users on your local network
- Access is controlled by the username and password you specify
- Other users on your network can access only the folders you explicitly share
- You are responsible for managing who has access to your shares
5.3 Legal Requirements
As WiFiCopy-SimpleShare does not collect or transmit data to the developer, there are no circumstances under which we would disclose your information to law enforcement or government agencies. Any legal requests would need to be directed to you as the computer owner.
6. YOUR RIGHTS AND CHOICES
6.1 Data Access and Control
You have complete control over all data used by WiFiCopy-SimpleShare:

- Delete Settings: Uninstalling the application or deleting the registry key removes all settings
- Manage Shares: You can remove any share at any time through the application
- Manage Users: Local user accounts can be managed through Windows User Management
6.2 Data Deletion
To completely remove all data associated with WiFiCopy-SimpleShare:
- Remove All Shares: Use the application to remove all active shares
- Delete User Accounts: Use Windows User Management to delete created user accounts
- Uninstall Application: Uninstall WiFiCopy-SimpleShare through Windows Settings
- Delete Registry Settings: Delete

6.3 Opt-Out
As WiFiCopy-SimpleShare does not collect telemetry or transmit data, there is no opt-out required. The application operates entirely locally.

WiFiCopy-SimpleShare is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. The application is designed for use by system administrators and users with administrator privileges.
